Can people track your kids every movement via Snapchat!?
The update came out and BOOM now everyone knows where everyone is at all times. It’s terrifying. They can see where you are – right down to the house you are in. But don’t worry – you can turn the feature off in the settings – read on to find out how…
While this may be a great feature if you want to make sure your teen is where they say they are, having it enabled will allow others to do the same.
Imagine people knowing if you are in the house, or out for a walk. It’s all a bit too big brother-ish for me.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check with your kids if they are using Snapchat and make sure they are aware of the newest update.
If you are not very tech savvy and the likes of Snapchat is beyond you, don’t worry.
This is what the App looks like:
Here is how you can check to see if people can see them on the map…
Go to the Main Page and click on Settings – that little cog / flowery thing in the corner!
You will need to scroll down until you see ‘See My Location’ The text on the right-hand side will tell you what it is currently set on. If it says ‘Only Me’ like this then they are not visible to anyone else on the map. Click in just to make sure though!
This is where you can turn Ghost mode on or off. Ghost mode ON means they can’t be seen. Slide to turn it on or off, depending on your personal preference.
With the wonders of modern technology, it is soooo important to teach your kids about online safety from the dangers out there to how to manage and avoid them – this includes just chatting to their friends in apps.
