Not sure what to do to make mothers day perfect this year whatever the budget…
First things first- actually remember what day it is!
SUNDAY 26TH MARCH 2017
Set a reminder if you need to. Forgetting will NOT go down well!
MAKE A NOTE OF HER FAVOURITE BREAKFAST
Nothing says ‘I love you mummy‘ more than breakfast in bed after a lie in.
THE LIE IN is the crucial bit. Even if this is all you give her- she will appreciate extra sleep. Trust me. You could give her the best present in the world but if she has only had 3 hours sleep she will not be in the mood to appreciate it!
Extra points if the kids help to make it, double extra points if you plate it up and serve it all hot!!
HOMEMADE is ALWAYS the best- even if it’s crap!
HANDMADE CARDS will be cherished and the kids will love making them. Get creating with the paints, glitter, stickers, anything colourful!
Thought and preparation are everything. She will know it’s not just a last minute card bought on the way back from work the night before.
Get the kids to write the card– you know, if they are old enough! And if they are not a fingerprint or a little scribble will go a long way. If you really can’t get the child to make a scribble- well- use your imagination- stick a pen between your toes and go for it- she (probably) won’t be able to tell the difference! Hobbycraft have some amazing art supplies for ONLY £1.
Flowers always go down well* Again, if you can clock her favourite before hand. If you are extra organised/ wanting minimal effort order online so they are delivered.
These Tulips from M&S even come with a FREE box of Chocolates!!
You will be amazed that letting your child pick a simple daisy and presenting to it her during the day will also go down well, you just won’t get the additional brownie points yourself!
*DO NOT pick them from her well tended pots in the garden. This will LOSE any points previously earned.
Get her something that she will keep and love forever. Here are a few of our favourite ideas:
Anything personalised with pictures. You can’t go wrong (this works for Grandparents too!!)
This Family Tree Necklace is a stunning piece of Jewellery she will keep (and possibly add to) forever.
This Personalised Key Ring would be a perfect gift to put a smile on her face! Added bonus you can get as many names as you like!
TAKE HER FOR A DAY OUT
Whip her out of the house and spend the day as a family, treat her to lunch or dinner. You could even get babysitters for the evening and make it extra special for her.
THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING…
GET A CLEANER!! Allow her to get an hour or two a back to herself, so instead of doing all the chores she has the time do the things that she likes to do. Even better, make it a regular thing and reap in those brownie points!
HOW TO MAKE HER HAPPY WITHOUT BREAKING THE BANK:
- KISSES, from you and the kids! A Simple Happy Mothers day with a kiss will make her feel appreciated and all warm inside!
- They way to a woman’s heart too… FOOD! Box of Chocolates, Sweets, Cake, chocolate dipped strawberries etc. Anything you know she likes!
- Clean the house. Hoover, dust, do the washing. GIVE HER A BREAK!
- Cook Dinner- it doesn’t have to complicated, order in if you need to, just make sure she does not have to give it a seconds thought.
- Relinquish your control over the Remote, yes, you heard me… hand it over. Let her watch whatever she likes, even if it is re-runs of the Kardashians! This little gesture will be noted, and brownie points will be accrued!
Do all the daily jobs that she has to do! Just don’t put a red sock in a white load….
We hope you all have a very happy Mother’s Day!!!
